Former President Bush To Attend Events at Eisenhower Library

Abilene, KS. . . Former President George H. W. Bush will participate in a special ceremony at the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum on October 12, 2002, in honor of President Eisenhower’s 112th birthday. "To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the election of Dwight D. Eisenhower to the Presidency in November 1952, the Eisenhower Library will open a new state-of-the-art Presidential gallery in the museum. It is a particular honor to have the last President to serve in World War II participate in the ceremonies and to honor the first President to serve in that war," said Dan Holt, Director of the Library.

In addition to making remarks at the opening ceremonies for the new exhibition, former President Bush will lay a wreath at the grave of President Eisenhower. Fort Riley will provide the military honors for the wreath-laying. The day-long events are free and open to the public.

This annual celebration marking President Eisenhower’s birthday is traditionally held on the Saturday closest to October 14, the actual birthday of the former President. The Eisenhower library is located at 200 SE 4th Street, Abilene, KS.

The Eisenhower Library is one of ten Presidential libraries operated by the National Archives and Records Administration.
