Author on book about America’s First Families appears at the Eisenhower Center
To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the White House (November 1, 2000), Carl Anthony opened the door to the famous residence to reveal life as it really was lived. With over 300 photos, most of which have never been seen before and have been assembled from private and public presidential collections, AMERICA’S FIRST FAMILIES: An Inside View of 200 Years of Private Life in the White House, is the first look at family life inside the White House. From John and Abigail Adams to Bill and Hillary Clinton, Anthony has gone where no other person has to look at the daily lives, routines, and traumas that take place behind closed White House doors.
Carl Sferrazza Anthony, author of several other books on first ladies, is a former speech writer for Nancy Reagan, and has had more exclusive access to Hillary Clinton than any other writer or journalist over the last seven years. He is the authority on the political power and social influence of first ladies. He has written for The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and other publications and is currently Special Correspondent to Voter.com.
Anthony will appear at the Eisenhower Center, Abilene, Kansas on Tuesday, December 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Library auditorium to discuss his latest book on America’s first families, answer questions, and sign copies of the book which can be purchased at the Library that evening. A coffee and dessert reception in the courtyard will follow. This event is free and open to the public.
